The artist definitely put a lot of time into the artwork. The scenery is stunning, the character designs are lovely, and the outfits are beautiful. The artist captures the unseen magic all around us and brings the Fae to life.
The OVA preview gives us a glimpse into the world full of color and it is gorgeous.
SOUNDTRACK SCORE: N/A
As the OVA has not been released, there can’t be a fair review of the soundtrack but based on the OVA preview, the soundtrack should be quite lovely.
STORY SCORE: 9/10
The story centers around Chise and Elias in current day England. Chise is an orphan who was saved from a slave market by Elias, a mysterious man who has an animal skull for a head. Elias, also known as The Child of Thorns, is a Slay Vega, a rare and powerful type of sorcerer. He buys Chise and makes her his apprentice as well as declaring that he wants her to be his bride. The plot follows Chise as her powers as a Slay Vega grows and she discovers the wonders of the world of the Fae. The story is rich in European folklore.
OVERALL SCORE: 8.5/10
The combination of the art and the story makes this a strong series full of magic and faeries. If you are really into supernatural stories or faeries, you will thoroughly enjoy this series.
