Are the New Pokémon GO Gym Updates a Bad Thing?

At this point I’m sure most of you are familiar with the new gym updates for Pokémon GO. Gyms are now easier to take over and are also harder to level up. This new update could easily keep trainers from being able to hold a gym.

First let’s talk about taking over gyms. It was already hard to hold a gym for more than thirty minutes to an hour in an urban area. Now it will be nearly impossible to hold one long enough to get the coins for it. Some people don’t have the time to only battle gyms when their coins are ready to be claimed, and this is a huge inconvenience to busier players. I will admit however that it is easier for trainers who play by themselves to make progress with an opponent’s gym.

The fact that it is harder to level gyms up is the big slap to the face with this update. Players that I know are always complaining about how long it takes to level up a gym. After beating a gym they always feel that they have made no progress. Now gyms are even harder to level up. Most trainers might not even bother trying unless they are with a group of players who happen to be on the same team.
