Hey Everyone!
The newly released anime, Yuri!! On Ice is really popular this fall season and definitely one of my favourites! I’ll try my best not to spoil much but this is a review so if you haven’t watched the anime yet and don’t want spoilers be warned!
Yuri!! On Ice is about the main protagonist, Yuri, who is a competitive figure skater but was defeated in a competition. He returns back to his home town, and skates at a local ice rink, replicating the routine of famous ice skater, Victor. One of his friends uploads the video of Yuri skating online and it goes viral! Victor then travels to Japan, quitting his ice skating career and becomes Yuri’s coach. Yuri then enters two competitions in order to qualify for the Grand Prix Final!
In episode 6, the episode before this one, we see Yuri attend ‘The Cup of China’ ice skating competition and has already competed his short program (in ice skating competitions, competitors skate two programs, one shorter one of around 2-3 minutes usually and another longer one of around 5 minutes). Yuri performs an alluring program and is placed first, scoring his personal best!
